What kinds of things do I need to request permission for?
You need to obtain permission from Black Rose Books to quote from or to re-use materials found in our books. Some examples of materials are prose selections, figures or tables, full chapters, etc. Permission is required even if you do not intend to charge for the use of the material. There is no set number of words or lines that may be used without our written permission. If you are not sure, it is best to request permission anyway. We reserve the right to deny permission. If the material in the Black Rose Books title is labeled "reprinted" or "reused with permission," that means we do not control the rights to the material and you are advised to contact the source cited.When do I need to request permission?

Please include the following: The title and author of the Black Rose Books publication. The pages or pages containing the material you wish to use. This is very important, as we need to verify the rights on each request. If you wish to use a figure, chart, table, or illustration, please provide the figure number and the page number. The specific nature of the use. Please describe how you will use the material and what the format will be, for example photocopies for classroom use, transparencies for a lecture, etc. For duplication requests, the number of copies you wish to make. For request to reprint material in another book, the number planned for the first printing.How long will it take to get permission?
Permission generally takes three weeks or so to process. If you are facing a deadline, please let us know, and we will make every effort to accommodate you.Are there fees involved?

Permission to post materials on an Internet site is processed the same way as print permission, and a limited number of such permissions are granted.
